Coinbase revises Advanced fees for active traders

Coinbase has announced changes intended to lower fees for many active users of its Advanced trading platform. The September 16 update also simplifies the route to reduced rates, making pricing qualification a central part of the change alongside the transaction costs that eligible customers ultimately pay.

The company is consolidating fee tiers across spot and derivatives trading in eligible jurisdictions. It is also making VIP qualification clearer and easier to reach. The announcement applies to many active traders globally, while the availability of particular products and arrangements continues to depend on location and eligibility.

Fee structures influence how traders compare venues because their effect accumulates across repeated transactions. Qualification rules also matter: a lower advertised rate is useful only when the customer's activity meets its requirements. Simplifying those requirements can therefore change the practical value of a pricing schedule without changing trading behavior.

The update puts the focus on the effective cost of using several markets within one platform. Customers will need to look at the tier attached to their own activity to measure the difference. The announcement describes a broader pricing revision, rather than one universal rate applied to every account.
