Payward and London Stock Exchange plan tokenized UK equity access

London Stock Exchange Group has announced plans for tokenized products linked to UK-listed shares and a partnership with Payward, Kraken's parent company. London Stock Exchange Group has announced plans for tokenized products linked to UK-listed shares and a partnership with Payward, Kraken's parent company. The initiative aims to widen access to London companies by connecting equity-market infrastructure with platforms already used by customers trading digital assets.

The collaboration includes an intention to list xStocks on LSE 24 during 2027, subject to regulatory approval. The planned venue is part of LSEG's effort to expand trading hours. These are future arrangements, rather than an announcement that the proposed tokenized products are already trading on the venue.

Tokenization can make an investment accessible through blockchain systems, but the rights attached to a particular product depend on its structure. A token linked to a share should therefore be understood through its terms. The partnership centers on developing that connection within a regulated market setting.

For Payward, the agreement extends its role beyond cryptocurrency trading into the distribution of equity-linked products. For LSEG, it offers a route to customers familiar with digital asset platforms. Regulatory approval and the eventual launch arrangements remain the steps that separate the announced collaboration from an operating market.
