Kraken parent Payward adds round-the-clock dollar settlement with SGB

Kraken

Kraken parent Payward announced a partnership with Singapore Gulf Bank on October 5 to provide round-the-clock U.S. dollar settlement for selected institutional clients in Asia and the Gulf region. The integration connects Payward with SGB Net, the Bahrain-regulated bank’s real-time clearing network. The companies said the service supports instant settlement, addressing the mismatch between cryptocurrency markets that operate continuously and banking arrangements that can depend on conventional business hours.

The initial offering is limited to selected institutions, with plans to expand access and add currencies. Singapore Gulf Bank will also obtain digital asset liquidity through Kraken Prime and use Payward’s markets to price customer trades in the coming months. The partnership therefore covers both movement of dollars and access to cryptocurrency market infrastructure, bringing banking settlement and institutional trading services into a more closely coordinated operating relationship.

For trading firms, a delay in moving cash can affect when they fund accounts, adjust collateral or settle obligations. A service that operates outside standard banking hours can reduce the gap between a trading decision and the availability of funds. That benefit depends on the participating institutions and supported routes. The announcement concerns a defined network integration, rather than a claim that every international dollar transfer can now settle instantly through Kraken’s infrastructure.

The arrangement gives Payward another banking connection for institutional customers and provides SGB with access to pricing and liquidity from a digital asset platform. Its broader business relevance is the integration of services on both sides of a transaction. Additional clients, currencies and completed settlement activity will show how widely the partnership is used, while the initial launch establishes a specific bridge between regional banking infrastructure and continuously operating cryptocurrency markets.
