Binance bitcoin reserves fall as large accounts increase stablecoin transfers

Binance’s bitcoin reserves declined by nearly 40,000 BTC after September 20, according to analysis reported on October 6. CryptoQuant identified net outflows of 23,137 BTC in the seven days through September 27, the exchange’s largest weekly outflow since June 2023. The data puts transfers away from Binance at the center of a company-specific market story, rather than relying only on bitcoin’s price movement across the broader cryptocurrency market.

Separate CryptoQuant figures showed an increase in stablecoin transfers from large accounts. Their rolling 30-day inflows to Binance rose approximately 40% between mid-August and the end of September, from $21.7 billion to $30.5 billion. These are measures of transfers over a period, rather than the size of a single wallet balance. Together, the bitcoin and stablecoin data describe changes in how major users positioned assets around the exchange.

CryptoQuant interpreted the bitcoin withdrawals as evidence consistent with accumulation. Moving coins away from an exchange can indicate longer-term custody, while stablecoin transfers can provide capital for future trading. Neither measure identifies the intention behind every transaction. Transfers may also serve collateral, settlement or custody requirements. The useful comparison is therefore the direction and persistence of several flows, rather than treating one large withdrawal as a completed investment decision by all market participants.

The analysis arrived while bitcoin had been trading within a range of approximately $82,500 to $87,400 since September 21. The figures describe that historical window and are not quotations for the scheduled publication date. Continued changes in Binance’s reserves, actual buying activity and subsequent price behavior would help test the accumulation interpretation. The immediate development is the combination of substantial bitcoin outflows and renewed stablecoin transfers from large-volume exchange users.
