Blockchain.com and NYSE sign plan to distribute tokenized US stocks

Blockchain.com and NYSE Group have signed a memorandum of understanding that would give Blockchain.com's users access to tokenized US-listed equities and exchange-traded funds on the NYSE's planned digital alternative trading system. The arrangement is subject to any required regulatory approvals.

Blockchain.com and NYSE Group have signed a memorandum of understanding that would give Blockchain.com's users access to tokenized US-listed equities and exchange-traded funds on the NYSE's planned digital alternative trading system. The arrangement is subject to any required regulatory approvals.

The companies say they are exploring round-the-clock onchain trading, which would remove some of the limits set by traditional market hours, geography, and brokerage access. Blockchain.com reports more than 44 million confirmed accounts, giving the NYSE a route to a large base of crypto-native investors outside its usual channels.

The agreement also runs in the other direction. ICE Data Services, an affiliate of NYSE parent Intercontinental Exchange, plans to distribute Blockchain.com's crypto market data and analytics to its clients, adding a commercial data relationship to the tokenization plan.

A memorandum of understanding sets out intent rather than a finished product, and no launch date has been given. The practical steps are approval of the NYSE venue, the terms under which Blockchain.com's international users can take part, and how continuous trading would work alongside the regular US market session.
