Hana Bank settles $100 million digital bond on the same day through Euroclear

KEB Hana Bank has issued a $100 million five-year digital bond through Euroclear's Digital Financial Market Infrastructure, the settlement group's distributed-ledger platform. It is the first time a Korean financial institution has used that infrastructure directly, with the bond also listed on the Singapore Exchange.
The transaction settled on the issue date, known as T+0, compared with the three to five business days usually required for conventional foreign-currency bonds. Issuance, registration, allocation, and payment all ran on the ledger rather than through the usual sequence of separate systems.
Standard Chartered acted as sole lead manager, less than a month after issuing its own bond on the same platform. Investors can hold and trade the bond through existing Euroclear accounts, so they do not need new systems or wallets to take part.
The deal is modest in size but useful as a template. It shows a regional bank reaching international investors through a digital format while those investors keep their existing custody arrangements. Wider use will depend on repeat issuance, secondary trading activity, and whether faster settlement reduces costs enough to matter.
